Licensing

One production. One price.
Yours, permanently.

Spotlight Maestro is licensed per production and bought outright. No subscription, no renewal date, nothing to reactivate. It never phones home and it never expires.

Licence · File

One small file

Your licence is a single signed file, made for your production. Open it in the app and the show exists: title, venue, number of followspots and the administrator account, all built in.

Licence · Name

Named for your show

The production's name is on the login screen, on every layout and on every PDF the app prints. A licence also carries a short reference like SM-2026-0001, the individual licence ID.

Licence · Machines

All the machines your show uses

The licence covers the production on whatever computers that production uses: the laptop it was plotted on, the show machine, the spare in the shop. Operators' devices need no licence at all.

Licence · Fixed

Fixed where it matters

The show title, venue, spot count and administrator are set by the licence and cannot be altered in the theatre. Everything else about the plot is yours to shape.

Licence · Updates

Survives updates

App updates are one download for everyone. Your licence file keeps working; there is nothing to re-buy and nothing to re-activate.

Licence · Offline

Offline by design

The licence is verified entirely on your machine. Show networks generally have no internet, and Spotlight Maestro never asks for any.

Tell us the show. We generate the licence.

Three steps: describe the production, choose who administers the licence, pay, and your licence file arrives by email along with the download link.

The production

Exactly as they should appear on the login screen and every printed plot. The spot count is a key component of the licence: list the exact number of followspots in your show.

Checkout · Step 2

The administrator

The account in charge of the production. The password is scrambled before it is stored; nobody, including us, can read it back. Keep your Admin username and password safe.

Checkout · Step 3

Payment

Payment is handled by Paddle, our merchant of record. Card, PayPal and Apple Pay, in your currency, with local taxes handled and a tax invoice issued. Your card details go to Paddle, never to us.

Asked and answered.

?

Why is it priced per production and not a subscription?

Subscription is not the best model for production-based data like a followspot plot. A production buys its plot once. Every operator, caller and designer on that show is covered, on as many devices as the show uses.

?

We move between machines during the season. Is that allowed?

Yes. The licence is for the production, not a computer. Plot on the laptop, run on the show machine, keep a spare ready. Only one copy of the app can be open on the network. Back Up and Restore carries the whole show between them as one file. Spotlight Maestro is very specific about the handling of data.

?

What about a tour?

A production is a production, wherever it plays. Name the licence for the tour and it travels with the show.

?

Can we change the admin password later?

Yes, in the app, once you are signed in.

?

What if we need more followspots after buying?

This is a key component of the licence. Make sure you list the exact number of followspots in your show, otherwise you may need to buy another licence.

?
